Dunmanway is the hometown of Sam Maguire, whose name is made famous by the All-Ireland Senior football cup that is named after him.
Everyone in Ireland knows the name 'Sam Maguire', and we want you to know the story of the man behind the cup. we also would love you to experience the area where Sam was brought up, the fresh food, beautiful scenery and rural way of life.

The Sam Maguire Visitor Experience.
(Suitable for all classes)
These were installed in St. Mary’s Church of Ireland, Dunmanway during the summer of 2017. Each of the eight bells has a theme through which we tell the story of the life of Sam Maguire and the famous cup given in his memory. The children will be taken on a guided tour of the bell ringing room, Sam Maguire’s grave and St. Mary’s Church. They will all get an opportunity to ring a tune on the Sam Maguire Community Bells and view a short documentary on the life of Sam Maguire and the Sam Maguire Cup.
We have developed a worksheet which will help them to make the most of their experience and keep them engaged during their time at the Sam Maguire Visitor Experience.

Top of the Rock:- (suitable for all classes)
The Top of the Rock is a Glamping farm accommodation centre just one mile from Drimoleague. We have a 48acre working farm with a walkway around it. Children will interact with the animals and enjoy the playground. The guided walk has lots of information on farm animals, wildlife, conservation and local folklore. There are good bathroom facilities and a spacious dining room for the group to bring their own lunch.

Glenilen Farm:- (suitable for all classes)
Glenilen Farm has been producing yummy yoghurts and cheesecakes on their small dairy farm in Drimoleague since 1997. Come along and learn about how yoghurt is made and watch the dairy in action. Taste some products and learn about how Alan and Val started a little business. The tour lasts about 1 hour.
West Cork Biscuits:- (3rd to 6th classes) At West Cork Biscuit Company's bakery, children will see and learn about our bakery and the ingredients, what they are and where the come from. They will get to complete a quiz and make their own cookies under the guidance of the Baker. Pupils will get to take home some of our delicious products. Facebook: West Cork Biscuit Co. |

Dunmanway Swimming Pool - (1st class - 6th class)
Dunmanway swimming pool is a beautiful new facility located in the heart of West Cork which opened in 2017. At the pool there are adult & children’s swimming lessons, aqua aerobics, West Cork Orca club training along with fun activities for birthday parties.
During your school tour we provide a variety of fun swimming races as well as a selection of water and ball games to keep your pupils entertained during their visit. Dunmanway Swimming Pool includes a 25m pool with deep end along with a learner pool for the younger pupils. We look forward to welcoming you to Dunmanway Swimming pool, the Home of Swimming in West Cork.
Funmanway Adventures:- Adventure Land. (1st class - 6th class)
Rock, roll and scream down the Yewtree hill here in west Cork inside a giant zorb ball. Choose from either being harnessed inside a 12 foot ball with a friend and riding downhill or sliding downhill with a friend inside our giant hydro balls. Yes you read that right. Located only 1km from the Sam Maguire Homestead. Please check out our website www.funmanway.ie for further terms and conditions and information on our other activities.

Optional extra (€6 per 12” pizza), have a go at making your own homemade pizza and we will cook it for you in our brick oven.

What is the duration of the tour from the time we arrive at our first attraction?
5 - 6 hours, including time for lunch and travel between venues.
How far are you from Cork City?
Travel time by bus from Cork City is approximately one hour.
What time does the tour start?
Usually at 10am at your first stop. This might change as requested by the school, or to facilitate the smooth running of the tours that day.
How will I know that my booking has been accepted?
You will receive an email within three working days of submitting the form (below) offering you a tour date and attractions, and when your deposit has been received your booking will be secured and confirmed by email.
What dates are available?
Please make contact with us and we will endevour to facilitate your request based on the attractions availability.
What happens if one of the attractions that we want to visit is not available on the day of our tour?
We will offer you an alternative attraction at the time of booking, and in the unlikely event that we have to cancel an attraction at short notice, we will offer you an alternative or a full (or partial) refund, as appropriate.
